Agreed with this, except disabling wireless on many modems doesn't do anything to fix the NAT issue. A lot of ISP provided modem/router combos lack features such as UPnP and port forwarding/triggering to actually allow you to play on Xbox Live with an open NAT. Even the cheapest router you can buy in a store is likely to do a better job.
