Anyone else experiencing misery and suffering using Synology with a Mac? I've got a 4-bay DS416j. I also have a fully-loaded/upgraded MacBook Pro 13" with TouchBar. I initially set up Time Machine on the DS but that seems to break any time the network connection is interrupted (like with VPN connect/disconnects).
When I connect to my Synology from my Mac using SMB, DSM shows I am connected using the CIFS protocol (under connected users). If I'm not mistaken, CIFS is an older protocol branching from SMB, correct? In that case, would SMB still be preferred over AFP?
